Simpson, noting that he is now a “Romney-man,” attacked Santorum’s views on homosexuality in particular. He called the candidate “rigid” and “homophobic” and brought up Santorum’s infamous comparison of homosexuality and bestiality, saying that, to him, that comment was “startling and borders on disgust.” He also brought up Santorum’s claim that he would create a Constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and then nullify all the marriages that had already been done. Asked Simpson, “What’s human or kind about that?”
The former Republican Senator from Wyoming made it very clear that he feels his party needs to move away from social issues:
“I am convinced that if you get into these social issues and just stay in there about abortion and homosexuality and even mental health they bring up, somehow they’re going to take us all to Alaska and float us out in the Bering Sea or something. Here’s a party that believes in getting government out of your life, the precious right of privacy, and the right to be left alone. How then can they be in the hypocrisy of fiddling around with these social issues? We won’t have a prayer.”

Simpson easily lived up to the title of the book he was there to promote, Shooting from the Lip, as he very bluntly explained his problems with Rick Santorum as a nominee.
I don't often agree with Simpson, but here I think he's spot on.

No, here's a party that used to say they believed in all that, now it's guns, gods, and gays. By their actions even before, they only want gov't out of their way, but in your way instead.

I suspect most Catholics don't want him in the White House. He is really out in extreme extreme right field.

I suspect that the only reason Santorum is doing well in the polls is the fact that they just can't warm up to Romney. Everytime he tells people what he thinks they want to hear, he's managing to piss off someone that he told something else last week.

Screw Simpson. The dude is a Supply Sider. The man spent his career concentrating the wealth into the upper 1%.
Tonight, in the debate, Romney seemed like he was trying to be the "goat master of the pasture."
What I got from the Simpson comments- He is a moderate on most things. That is what is so missing in the Republican party. There is no moderation. They have swung so far to the right. Thing is most people are just figuring that out..way right.
He is spot on about social issues. Might have helped GWB in 04 with the guns, god, and gays platform to keep criticism of the wars at bay, but you can't go to that well again- as American has changed.
